1848 meters above the fjord you are at the top of the mountain Skaala in Loen. In 1891 the local people built a round tower with 22 bedplaces for stayover. The instigator was Hans Henrik Gerhard Kloumann, educated doctor, with convalescence for body and soul as a vision for the building.
For many years this has been a popular mountain trip, and a lot of people has run up the hills to beat the local records. Skaala is the highest mountain in Northern Europe having the footh in the fjord. |
